Tamara Van San
Tamara Van San sculpts burst-like pieces, working with ceramics, synthetic gypsum, fibreglass, concretions of crystal, metal coral and set lava explosions. Her pieces are fun, spontaneous and childlike and give the material a sense of dynamic movement and a mischievous twist. Once the object is set in place she refrains from manipulating it further. Her installations are evocative of the mineral vegetation found in tropical seabeds. Tamara loves the world and dives fearlessly and playfully to the bottom of the sea. She seeks not to recreate the subject, “although it may well have a subconscious influence” over her, but rather to systematically search for the unknown, which she proceeds to bring to life in her work.
