Bilal Bahir

Bilal Bahir is born in Bagdad, Iraq in 1988. He lives and works in Belgium since 2010. He studied sculpture at the institute of Fine Arts in Bagdad. Since he lived in Belgium he switched from sculpture to collages and drawings. “I draw on printed paper, pages of books, and letters. I don’t work with neutral material, I like materials which already have a history. I tell stories through my drawings, stories I heard as a child, or those of 1001 nights, childhood memories.”
